My last post about Twitter was concluded with saying that we would talk more about how Twitter can help your business. It’s a great way to help with customer service, connecting with clients, and much more. So here we go…

@Customer Service?

Twitter Page

Customer service through Twitter is quite easy because your company can answer questions that clients have, help them with how-to’s, encourage them, apologize to them, suggest something new, give them a phone number to call, and anything else you want to do just by using the @username. If a customer complains about a product on Twitter, you can follow that up. Or if they complain about a competing company’s product, you can say something kind to them and maybe they will consider you the next time! People don’t have the unrealistic idea that you’ll never make mistakes (the internet has already proven that, time and time again).  They just want to know that you’ll be around to fix it, and that you won’t freak out on them.

Building Trust and Solving Problems

Using Twitter for your company is a great way to show that your business is trustworthy because you are connecting on an individual level with people. This is especially important for start-ups and small businesses. Build trust and followers by helping people out and sharing quality content. If you see someone is looking for help and you have a solution, share it! It doesn’t have to be something in your field for you to be able to help. It is the small, kind gestures that help build your trustworthiness.

#Sales and Promotions

Twitter can be used to share upcoming sales or promotions that you are running and quickly get word out. Your followers can re-tweet and share the sale with others if they want to. Put up the sale on your webpage, and just paste the URL to that page into your Tweet along with a short description of the offer. This is a great way to increase traffic to your webpage as well. Just make sure you only tweet this type of content on occasion and only after you have a solid following and a good reputation.

Connect to the Individual

I love it when I tag a company in something on Twitter and they reply to me personally. It makes me feel awesome that a big (or small) corporation took the time to reply to just one person. Me. So reach out. Connect. Be personal. Help out a brother or sister. Answer questions. Ask questions. Post great content. And last but not least, have fun!

Have you had a company reach out to you in a personal way on Twitter? How have you seen a business connect with others? Any more ideas?
